The most devasting were the ones in 1749 and 1911 where 1, 335 people died. The eruption affected places all around Taal lake. Volcanic ashes reached even as far as Manila.
Mount Tabaro was the last active crater with 8 eruptions in 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1976 and 1977. The 1965 eruption killed 200 people, leaving a 25-cm thick layer of ashes on the whole volcano island and some parts around Taal lake. The 1969 eruption was the last one releasing some lava and the 1977 eruption was the most recent eruption of Taal Volcano.
Taal Volcano is still a very active volcano and is constantly being monitored by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Having a tour on Taal volcano is only possible when the alert level is below 2 (Taal volcano was under alert 2 on June/July 2010 and April/June 2011) Since July 5th the alert level is at 1 which means that a trek is allowed.

this is a test page

this is a test page

Taal Volcano Ambassador Kenney Trail

The Kenney trail is called as such in honor of Ms. Kristie Kenney, first woman to be US ambassador to the Philippines. Her and her family were the first to trek this trail. As the regular trail, it starts with a boat ride to Volcano island.

The trail starts at the foot of Binintiang Malaki on a volcanic beach

Most prefer this trail because it's not dusty, it's less crowded than the regular trail and it passes through a forest making the trek more comfortable and less hot. As it is the easiest trail on Volcano island, this path makes it child-friendly compared to the other routes.

Another view of Binintiang Malaki and Taal Lake

After a 30-minute walk, you will reach the view deck.
